Artist's Statement

My work explores my relationship with the natural world and the way moments within it are experienced. Through the use of negative space, I isolate elements from their surroundings, allowing a single moment to be held apart and brought into focus. This separation emphasizes the essence of the experience as I perceive it—quiet, distilled, and intentional.
My process is intuitive and often begins with an emotional response or a specific moment in time. I view the world not as a continuous whole, but as a collection of shapes, forms, and moments that emerge as subjects in their own right. These fragments become points of entry into the work, informing both composition and meaning.
Due to the fluid nature of my medium, painting requires continual adjustment and response. Time and space push back against intention, and the resulting work becomes a collaboration between myself and the environment—shaped by movement, chance, and reaction. The finished surface often incorporates fluid linework that guides the viewer through the composition.
Inspired by the natural world, my color palette is drawn from the environments that surround me. Extending beyond aesthetics, my work invites stillness, reflection, and quiet engagement. Each painting is intended to function as a contemplative presence within a space, encouraging personal connection and thoughtful interaction.
